Chill Friday night

There are very few things in life I perfer to an evening of Scrabble and knitting.

The socks are a Christmas present for my little brother. (I hope he's not another closet reader of my blog.) He works winters on ski patrol in northern Vermont, so these are some comfy alpaca socks for him to slip into when he gets from work and his feet need a break from big chunky wool ski socks.

Mike tried them and and says they're comfy. But my little bro has feet two sizes bigger than Mike, so I just have to hope I made the toes long enough!

The Scrabble game was great. I was beating Mike, which doesn't happen often, until the kitten jumped up on the board and scattered tiles everywhere.

We also have a feline Scrabble tilescatterer - hence the purchase of magnetic scrabble!

Keith is home tonight - I asked if he ever looks at the blog. He said he has but not for quite awhile - so I told him to not look between now and Xmas - and he said "OK" he would stay away!

Scrabble and knitting is a winning combination!

Cats are known saboteurs. Arlo may have a closer relationship with Mike than you have previously had reason to think. Keep your ears open.

About my finishing uni and law school stuff: no bar exam in Australia, but you are apprenticed for a year, then a restricted practitioner (I'm not actually sure what restrictions there are on you...) for a year. During the apprentice year you have to undertake some kind of recognised Practical Legal Training (drafting, not being unethical, writing polite letters, that kind of stuff), which does involve exams and whatnot, but I understand its not at all on a par with uni exams.
Firms that take you on as an apprentice (articled clerk) generally keep you. There's no mass layoff after the first year or anything (unless you're heinously incompetent).
